Tom Christensen Named to State Department Post

The White House and the U.S. State Department have selected Thomas Christensen, Princeton professor of politics and international affairs, as deputy assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs with responsibility for China, Taiwan and Mongolia. Pending the appropriate clearances, he is scheduled to assume the office this summer.  Professor Christensen has published numerous articles on China, including “Fostering Stability or Creating a Monster? The Rise of China and U.S. Policy Toward East Asia” in International Security, Vol. 31, No. 1 (Summer 2006).
