Professor and Center Director Yu Xie will be leading his annual Global Seminar in Beijing and will offer an introduction to contemporary Chinese society. There will be exciting guest lecturers and numerous excursions throughout the country to examine China’s growing wealth and social disparities and the impact of fast-paced economic growth on society. Weekend excursions include a visit to the Gobi Desert; the Mogao Caves located on the ancient Silk Route where 1000-year old Buddhist art survives, and the Labrang Tibetan Monastery in Xiahe County. Visits also include contemporary auto and other manufacturing sites, stock exchange, and more.

Shanghai Peking Opera Immersion Program

Aug. 20 - Sept. 7, 2018

If you are a Princeton undergrad or grad student and interested in spending three weeks with the Shanghai Peking Opera Company learning about Peking Opera, please take a look at the application on GPS. You can also concurrently apply to the Global Seminar - China or to Princeton in Beijing Programs, which precede the Opera Immersion. Fully funded!

Columbia University China-Israel Connection Club (CIC) aims to promote connections between China-affiliated and Israel-affiliated students on the campus level. CIC founded a Summer Fellowship Program that offers internship opportunities in China, Israel and New York City. CIC is looking for more students (China-affiliated, Israel-affiliated, and others) with a demonstrated interest in the Sino-Israeli connection, who want to intern in China, Israel, or New York during summer 2018. Deadline: February 10, midnight.
